Tips for SPARKS

Complete 1.52 version

The SPARKS installer program comes in two versions:

• Sparks self installing setup.exe
• Zipped version of the setup

SPARKS upgrade 1.52

This upgrade fixes all known bugs of version 1.42 and adds functionality. This is not a complete version. It will only update an existing version of SPARKS.

Make sure you have a current backup of your studbook data BEFORE you start!

The original upgrade offered by ISIS at home.netcom.com is a ZIP file, this local version is self extracting. The only other difference that the startup file SPARKS.BAT is updated too. It will now start the new version.

Instructions

• Click on Sparks 1.5 upgrade
• Store the file at a handy place on your harddisk. (C:\SPARKS is a good example).
• Double click the file and check the directory is correct. The default directory for SPARKS is C:\SPARKS, and if SPARKS is installed there, you don't have to change anything.
• Click "Unzip". The upgrade is now executed.

If no studbooks were created with the old version, starting the new version will give an error message:

Select "Ignore" (arrow key right and then Enter). The other messages will disappear with just Enter.

Sparks 1.5 upgrade.

The SPARKS folder also contains an icon:

You can drag this to your desktop for faster starting SPARKS.
